I was in remission for 3 years.3 YEARS! My skin looked great, my bowel movements were healthy (use to have diarrhea every day), and I just felt better. To give you an example, I hadn’t used antibiotics in 4 years and worked on healing my gut by doing all the things listed above. I am not a doctor but I could bet my life that antibiotics use, especially in our growth stages, is a big contributing factor reason for IBS, ergo IC. The more stories we hear, the more we learn from each other. I’m happy to help! This is a community of people who suffer from IC. Good luck and I wish everyone a pain-free day! The only way it will stick in your noggin is if you put in the work and feel the payoff.
Please do your own research before trying any of this stuff. Lastly, I researched supplementing with Saccharomyces as a probiotic and it also helped significantly. L-Glutamine, which is an amino acid, has been used to bind the gut lining back together and decrease gut permeability. They have connected IC to IBS/Leaky gut so the absolute first thing that helped me was healing my gut, hence the low-inflammatory diet (meat, veggies, some fruit) and adding L-Glutamine to my morning ritual. increasing exercise by 2x 1 mile walks per week to what I normally walk. mixing a tonic of 5 grams of L-Glutamine (100% pure), 1 teaspoon of D-Mannose, and 1/4 teaspoon of Baking Soda with a 16oz glass of h2o every morning on an empty stomach. Beans, tomatoes, and citrus also affect me. Stay away from gluten, alcohol, dairy, highly processed foods, and additives. Just a patient that has literally tried everything): -eating a low inflammation diet (keto without cheese is a great option). Some other helpful tips that have helped me go into remission (I am not a doctor.
The biggest saving grace for me was adding 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda to a 16oz glass of water when I feel the “electricity” coming on. I have renamed it “electricity” when describing to my partner the feeling. The pain for me is incredibly painful and uncomfortable. If you’re on here, either you or someone you love suffers from IC.
